Dr. Eren Kurshan is an AI researcher and technology executive focused on building AI systems for large-scale industrial use cases. Kurshan received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, Master’s in Computer Science, and Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering. She has been leading AI/ML and emerging technology programs at Morgan Stanley, Columbia University, J.P. Morgan, Bank of America and IBM T.J. Watson Research Labs. At Bank of America, Kurshan led the development of the first in-house AI and machine learning models for transaction processing and financial crime detection, covering over 100 million transactions per day in credit, debit, mobile payments, and other channels. She was a Visiting Fellow Princeton’s Center for Information Technology Policy from 2015 to 2016 and an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University from 2014 to 2020. Dr. Kurshan published over 80 peer-reviewed technical publications and 260 patents, with approximately 120 granted by the USPTO. She was the recipient of 2 Best Technical Paper Awards from IEEE and ACM conferences, inventor and licensing awards from Bank of America and IBM. She received Outstanding Research and Corporate Accomplishment Awards from IBM for her work on system design/optimization and emerging technology development respectively. Kurshan was selected as the Inventor of the Year Award by the NY Intellectual Property Association in 2024.
